A couple of the best songs ever:
The Element of One
and,
Fixation on the Darkness
We need a "metal" emoticon.
I guess this is close enough:

And now for something completely different...
I don't think I ever posted about these folks, 'cause it's a real departure for me. I do NOT like house - but these peeps are so funky and soulful, I have to make an exception. I was in college radio when we got the first 10" single from Belgium, and I started "borrowing" it for parties. After they were released in the US, they became something of a one-hot wonder, but they were just sort of underrepresneted. I later got to see them at City Gardens in Trenton, and they just killed the room... and Lady Miss Kier is so smokin' un-friggin-believably hot - so much more so than on TV.
Deee-lite: "Runaway"
a live version of the one everyone knows
a funky-ass live version of "World Clique"
weird a capella version of "Somebody," but the second half has a live version of "Say Ahh..."
OK, now we're back with some good ol' third-wave for the junior rudies:
Dr. Ring Ding and the Senior All-Stars: "Call Di Doctor" - good old-fashioned German rocksteady.
The Toasters
for the baldies - The Skoidats
Bad Manners
Dance Hall Crashers - with the original singers. Check out the chorus, when they sing in octaves of each other.
more DHC
Highland Park, NJ's very own Mephiskapheles - purveyors of the finest dissonance in modern pop
...and Mephiskapheles' take on the Bumble Bee Tuna jingle

Alice In Chains What The Hell Have I?
I forgot how much I liked this song.
Also, Teaos is a bad ass singer:
Sea of Sorrow
Great video for this one:
Get Born Again

Tool's The Pot; a song about not "casting the first stone".

Re: Music you like.
Nine Inch Nails The Becoming (live), a song about how bad experiences in life can change you for the worse.
EDIT: That looks like it was a great show. Not that I'd expect less from Trent Reznor.

Going to see the Fray tomorrow!

Re: Music you like.
Funny story: A friend of mine almost got into a fistfight with Chris Vrenna, the live drummer from NIN. It appears that at a show near his school (IUP,) Vrenna was making a pass at my bud's GF (later to become his wife.)Tsukiyumi wrote:That looks like it was a great show. Anyhoo, I saw NIN twice - and Reznor puts on a real ol'skool type of spectacle. Very KISS-influenced (by his own admission) - lots of pyrotechnics, shims with ghostly projections - an old Bowie trick - etc.
Speaking of which, Reznor's two best covers:
the live-only cover of Queen's Get Down Make Love
the (explicit) cover of Adam Ant's You're So Physical

A Perfect Circle's The Outsider (live) The lyrics here might mean something to a few of our members...
Nirvana's Big Long Now It's possibly their best song, IMO.
Alice in Chains Junkhead. Another song with excellent and applicable lyrics.

Audioslave's Show Me How To Live in relation to recent topics, and recent world events.
And, their Shadow On The Sun, again, IMO, one of the best songs ever written, lyrically and musically.
