Re: You know what this means...
Fair point. Archer would have to be pretty old if he was alive at that point.

You still call them Admirals / Generals after they retire though.

This would make Admiral Archer, what, about 140?GrahamKennedy wrote:The mention of "Admiral Archer's prize beagle" indicates that at least SOME version of Ent is part of this timeline.
Don't you hear my call, though you're many years away, don't you hear me calling you?

Is that really too far fetched 250 or so years into the future?Bryan Moore wrote:This would make Admiral Archer, what, about 140?GrahamKennedy wrote:The mention of "Admiral Archer's prize beagle" indicates that at least SOME version of Ent is part of this timeline.

I don't think so. Some people live well over 100 in modern times.Monroe wrote:Is that really too far fetched 250 or so years into the future?Bryan Moore wrote:This would make Admiral Archer, what, about 140?GrahamKennedy wrote:The mention of "Admiral Archer's prize beagle" indicates that at least SOME version of Ent is part of this timeline.

How old was Bones in Encounter At Farpoint?

I could buy him living to 140 alright. But still an acting admiral? I doubt it.

He was 137.

Yup, he was 137 and he was fed up with people being surprised at him living that long. This kinda suggests it's not that regular a thing to live to 137 at that time, which is 90+ years after this timeline.

By the 2250s, Archer could have had a son who made it to admiral and liked beagles.

Age is not a problem. The UN projects that by 2300 (yes, they have thought this far ahead) the average life expectancy in the first world will be around 106. Currently it is 75-80. So living to 140 will be no more remarkable than someone living to 110 now. Rare but not impossible.
We can safely assume that Archer had several beagles over his lifetime, so the beagle in question wasn't Porthos.
The question you have to ask is what was Scotty thinking? Weren't there lab mice (or lab beagles) to test his new transporter techniques on? Even an ensign's hamster or lieutenant's shitzsu would be better choices than an admiral's beagle.

As one of the only posters on this forum who actually enjoyed ENT, I feel compelled to say:Monroe wrote:ENT is the only series that's still canon 100%

As I said above, I'm not sure if Enterprise is canon in this timeline, Archer or no Archer. There had already been significant changes even before Nero showed up.CaptainQuantum wrote:As one of the only posters on this forum who actually enjoyed ENT, I feel compelled to say:Monroe wrote:ENT is the only series that's still canon 100%

Just from the look and feel of it I'd say no, and as Seafort said there are differnces even before Nero showed up.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: You know what this means...
Exactly. As I pointed out earlier, all we know is that there was an admiral named Archer who owned a pet bagle. Aside from that, anything could have happened.
