Don't roll your eyes at me - I'm not the guy who sent a ship out for 5 years without a lathe or a die press.

Well we never saw it but I always assumed Voyager had some form of machine shop since they seemed to build a few shuttles and other repairs.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Well, they had to catch on sooner or later.

Maybe the shuttles were breeding?
Perhaps the Intrepid, being of a presumably newer design, had this feature after adventures with the GCS proved how useful it would be.

Oh right, because that feature wouldn't have been useful throughout all of HISTORY!

So would a machine gun, but this is Starfleet we're talking about.

Is there any doubt that TOS had machine shops?

You mean the TOS of ergonomic pistols, 2" mortars, assault guns and warship accommodation?

Also the time of the crews who knew what they were doing, SF with balls, and the greatest class of ship in history - the Excelsior.

I quite agree, albeit with a bit of tweaking required.Deepcrush wrote:Also the time of the crews who knew what they were doing, SF with balls, and the greatest class of ship in history - the Connie.

You know, I've never understood what the hell the point of a Captain's Yacht was supposed to be anyway. You HAVE auxiliary craft in the shuttle bay. A Starfleet Captain doesn't need to leave his ship for little jaunts. Hell, he's the BOSS! The whole ship goes where he says.
Every single series did just fine without the Captain's yacht. They made mention of it in the TNG:TM, so does that mean that they HAD to use it? I mean, seriously.........what was it's function supposed to be?

They say that in the Army,
the women are mighty fine.
They look like Phyllis Diller,
and walk like Frankenstein.
