Though there was a statement that if ever there was a movie or series based on the Titan, all of those would become canon facts.

But if a series/movie was ever made it would be allowed to change anything they like about the ship.

Exactly. If a show was made about the Titan, then what that show showed would be canon. Not what was in the books.

Guys, I don't see why you use the Paladin freely, a Wank-ship designed here, and yet you have reservations about using ships presented in ST books, which are approved by Paramount... :)

I personnaly like the Luna-Class a lot.

A bit more info on it, from Taos's link:
The Luna-class ship features a sensor pod just above the back of the saucer section that can be accessed via turbo lift. It is comprised of at least two decks that has more advanced sensor nets and data collection grids that were better than even the most advanced space telescope employed by the Federation for its time. The sensor pod itself could be manned by up to 8 crewman at a time, and even included a special TOV suit that allowed a person to control and manipulate probes, giving them a "front row seat" to the action as it were.

One of the features of the Luna-class was the highly adaptable life support systems in place throughout the ship, including unprecedented customisation of crew quarters. This allowed the crew roster to include a far greater diversity than most Starfleet vessels, whose life support systems usually mean ships were crewed dominantly by one race only.
The truth always depends on which side of the fence you're standing... ;)

You'll note that the ones complaining about the inclusion of the Titan have not included the Paladin themselves.
And it ain't a wank ship. It's incredibly powerful, but that's simply because we took an inteligent aproach to designing it.

Well, Deepcrush seems to have issues with the Vesta and Luna classes (correct me if I'm wrong here, Deep), and yet seems to accept the Paladin class easily.

And the Paladin to me looked like a design that simply added all the newest Starfleet battle-tech, QT launchers, abaltive armor (with more of it then on any other ships), with invented Type-XIV Phasers (as if Type-XII weren't powerful enough).

The Vesta, which was called a "Wank-ship", was specifically called a "testbed" vessel, and aside from the Transwarp and it's advanced sensors, isn't that uber.
In fact, in battle, in one of the Destiny books, the E-E is shown to be more powerful, and as, if not more, resilient then the Vesta.
Both ships were almost seen as equal (slight Advantage E-E), but the E-E wasn't even at 100%, having just come out from a battle with the Borg a few hours before this battle.

So, IMO, between the Vesta and the Paladin, the Vesta's not the Wank-ship at all...

with invented Type-XIV Phasers
Huh? We only put in Type XII's as I recall, infact the only piece of truely advanced crap we put in was the lance which is at least semi canon, and we added serious restrictions to it.

EDIT: Ah I see what happened, Tsu linked you to the wank-tastic specs Thorin wrote up about the Paladin. When designing it I specifically tried to keep it from turning into a wankship by limiting advance tech ect. Some thought it wasnt wanky enough so wrote up those suped up specs for it. Its not Paladin canon, I just couldnt be arsed arguing about it at the time and since it was for a RP didnt think it really mattered.

Here is the design process ect.

Here is the almost final draft.

Okay, so in your original draft, everything else was still there, but it only had the Type-XII Phasers... :laughroll:

It's still a Wank-ship even without the Type-XIV Phasers... :poke:

no it's not....for two main reasons, and 1 iffy:

1. All tech used on the ship is canon (AFAIK), we didn't make up any new tech to uber up our ship, or to make it unstoppable, the tech on the ship has the same advantages and cons of the existing trek ships

2. For every decision that was made about the ship, the pro's and cons were weighed, you cited Ablative Armor and QT Launchers. The ship was designed as a battle ship, so it is obviously going to have a lot of armor and if any ship would get the QT's a Battle ship would...but you also have to notice that for all that armor the ship took a big hit to the number produced, the speed and maneuverability of the ship in combat. For the QT's we lost internal space that could have been used for other weapons or holodecks. An uber ship wouldn't have these drawbacks, it was a carfully thought out project that makes sence with the era it was designed in and the purpose of it's design

3. We're DITL, we do not wank.

Well, we don't wank here, anyways.

What was the purpose of this? You're insulting someone for the use of Type-XII phasers? Really, if thats the best you have then you just shouldn't bother.

Both Vesta and Luna have stats supplied by a Wiki site. The Paladin was designed by a panel of persons with mixed backrounds and ideas for the very purpose of having a truely balanced vessel. Most of the ships on MemoryBeta were thrown in by random authors who just wanted another ship.

This is the reason why I accept the Paladin but not Vesta or Luna. Also recall that the title of this thread is MODERN and not FUTURE STUFF THAT MAY HAPPEN. When building a fleet you have to use what you have, not what you think you might get.

The Paladin isn't a wank-ship. Thing is, it looks like a wank-ship due to its power and armaments. But all that's based on canon facts. The problem is that standard Trek ships are ridiculously underpowered and underarmed for their size. We just took a ship, designed it purely for combat, and utilised the available space inteligently. It's like the battleship version of a Defiant.
