Re: The potential for refits
Pretty much what Deep said. Its done with, move on and we'll all soon forget it so long as nothing else happens.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

If there was something to tell you, m52, you would have known.

Back to topic...
Refits!
We know that the Excelsior class can go through a huge refit. Though its mostly internal, it still has to be a huge deal.
The GCS under went a fair deal of upgrades that we can see. Increased phasers, possible the same was done with the shields. The warpcore must have had some work since we see a GCS take a direct hit that would have killed the E-D several times over.
The Nebula should be able to undertake the same upgrades as the GCS. If not more so due to the Weapons Pod.
What other classes are there that could be upgraded. Remember that the basic call of an upgrade is that it should be (though it doesn't have to be) cheaper then building a new class.

Re: The potential for refits
The Akira-class should be a prime candidate for refits. It ostensibly has tons of interior space, especially if you're willing to use some of the theorized hangar area. Plus, the main weapons stations are set up on a pod rather than buried in the innards of the ship.

Akira Class.
What kind of upgrades would you run? Remember that if you start shifting out the whole of the interior. You might be better off just making a new class. Also, those fighters seemed to be of some help. A carrier would be useful in any number of places, both in space and in ground conflicts.

Re: The potential for refits
I'm not talking about anything sweeping. Perhaps change those torps to a more modern, higher ROF type - should be possible with miniaturization of the newer tech. And some of the hangar space could be used for larger core/more powerful shield generators.

The increased power supply could always be a good thing.Mikey wrote:I'm not talking about anything sweeping. With the PTLs, do we even know for sure what kind they are using? The Akira is a pretty new design. I'd be shocked if they didn't prep the best they could.

Re: The potential for refits
I think the Intrepid could probably be refit...maybe.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

Re: The potential for refits
They seemed to have a relatively slow ROF in FC - there had to be some reason why they were instantaneously depicted as firing their little phaser instead of their awesome broadside of torpedo death.Deepcrush wrote:The increased power supply could always be a good thing.Mikey wrote:I'm not talking about anything sweeping. Alternatively, we could just give 'em the Deepcrush treatment (read, "Change them all to QT's.")

Re: The potential for refits
go into the bridge and give the command crew an IQ test, if they score below 70, remove them...
good for an effective removal of Janeway
seriously though, I'm not sure what we'd want to upgrade as of now, but I could see in the future fitting the ship with higher powered phasers maybe even some phaser pulse canons.
I could also see the Intrepid being outfitted as a Marine ship if needed...

Re: The potential for refits
The only issue is that I don't know if there's space for a commensurate upgrade of the core/feed systems.Lt. Wish I'd seen that somewhere before...Lt. Staplic wrote:I could also see the Intrepid being outfitted as a Marine ship if needed...

Re: The potential for refits
lol...yes, I did get the idea from the Daystrom RP, but seriously the I can see the ship being a good troop transport and in numbers a good blockade ship.

More likely they were just running out seeing as they had been in a long running fight.Mikey wrote:They seemed to have a relatively slow ROF in FC - there had to be some reason why they were instantaneously depicted as firing their little phaser instead of their awesome broadside of torpedo death.Deepcrush wrote:The increased power supply could always be a good thing.Mikey wrote:I'm not talking about anything sweeping. If you wanted me to treat them, QTs would be the least of the upgrades.

Give an Oberth two Akira weapons pods, one on each side. Load with QT's.
I'm kidding. Seriously kidding.
