Re: "Great" movies you can't stand
Wrong...
The correct response was... "What are the tactics of Star Trek?"
Your next answer is... "France in Conflict" for 500.

To name a few:
Dances With Wolves. (The most over-rated, boring film ever?)
The Talented Mr Ripley.
Interview With The Vampire.
Schlinders List.
Casino.
Gosford Park.
A few people mentioned The Departed, which I saw for the first time last night, and while it was fairly good, I genuinely thought the Infernal Affairs films where superior.

Australia. Hugh Jackman and Nichole Kidman.

I'll second Dances With Wolves. Completely meh, IMO.

I liked it, but I may be a bit biased.

Australia was a mediocre film that just happens to have another film added on to the end.Mark wrote:Australia. Hugh Jackman and Nichole Kidman.

I never bothered seeing it. Despite all the hype about it, I could tell it was an utter snooze-fest just by watching the trailers.

I was out with a woman, and made the mistake of letting her pick the movie.

Agreed with Enkidu for the most part, but Schindler's List and Casino? I loved 'em both.

Movies you hate to admit you like.
The Princess Bride. Everyone I know or speak to both in person and online seem to love this movie. I find very little to like about it. I do not think it is very funny, or very action packed, or very romantic. And Billy Crystal and Carol Kane approach Jar Jar Binks/Neelix level of annoyance.

Wrong thread or no, I must retort.
Billy Crystals scene was one of the funniest moments in any film ever. The film also contains not only one, but two of the greatest on screen sword fights, and has very very well written dialogue.

The thread is "Great" movies you can't stand, right? The Princess Bride is considered a classic by many and has generated a lot of DVD sales. It was also a darling with critics, netting a 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Despite all that I still find the movie to be an over rated bore.
