Oh really? :P

I live in California, so at least one person will be shooting back.

And Azrael, the XD's are pretty sweet. Personally, I prefer the HK USP .45 but the XD is comparable as far as quality. Just depends on the style and ergonomics. I'm gonna get a USP compact when i turn 21.

the USP felt to blocky for me, for the grip, the XD is so ergonomical it just feels natural.

i turned 21 in july, money is just an issue for me now as an XD costs near 600 dollars.

DarkOmen: Seriously? I've heard the gun laws out there are ridiculously strict. How did you get such an impressive collection? Class Three licence?

That right there is the single downside of shooting.. It is friggin EXPENSIVE!

A decent rifle is $1000+, a good scope is $500+

The .308 for my m1a is $1.50 a shot.... you can empty a 30 round magazine in 4 seconds...

.375 H&H Mags are $5.00 a round for good high quality stuff.

I find myself going out with just my .22's ( around $0.07 a shot) and my AK (about $0.18 a shot for the dirty Russian surplus ammo)

I want a desrt eagle... thats $1500.. i want a USP... thats $800... i want a Dragunov.. thats another $1k. Remington 700p, $1300... i want a Barret M82... thats $8,500... i want a PSG-1... $13,000.

You can spend sooooo much money...

Gotta love Israeli Arms. Although, I'm not a big fan of the way the DE ejects brass.

They are incredibly strict, and no.... no special license for me.

You cant have a semi automatic rifle with the ability to accept detachable magazines, and any one of the following: pistol grip, flash hider, carrying handle, collapsable stock, folding stock, under barrel launcer, bayonet mount, or grenade launcher at muzzel.

.50 bmg rifles are illegal, for some reason the .50AE desert eagle is illegal, but the .500 S&W revolver isnt  Shotguns can only have a 2 in the tube one in the barrel capacity. Teflon ammo is illegal. 5.7x28 ammo is illegal.

Theres some more but i cant remember :P

Most of the laws here were grandfathered so while it is illegal to sell and manufacture new models of certain guns, in california, in general t is not illegal if you had them prior to the law being passed. Most of them i bought from other people, not through stores.

Another loophole, the law often bans guns by their specific name... i.e. the Intratec TEC-9 is illegal period in california, and is actually required to be turned it to the police if you own one (they reimburse you fair market value). SOooo, Intratec made a model called the AB-10, mechanically almost identical to the TEC-9, but it ships with a 10 round magazine (although it can take mags up to 50 rds) an bypasses the ban.

Any magazine over 10 rounds is illegal here, so when i go to the range, i take a 5 or 10 round mag for my M1, AK, TEC, M4 etc... If im out on a ranch 50 miles out from town, yeah ill pull out one of the 30 rounders or something.

And, DarkOmen: Those are some seriously high prices for ammunition. I've heard they're going to raise the prices here as well, though. I guess the plan is to make it finacially impossible for an average citizen to defend themselves. Of course, the 9mm rounds I have are already $2 apiece; I guess they'll go up to $5 or some crap like that.

DarkOmen: I thought with the lifting of the Brady bill (thank god) a couple of years ago, limits on magazine capacity were lifted. I guess state law wins out, right? I have several high-capacity (17-round) mags for my Glock-17. It isn't illegal here.

Azrael: With the rounds I mentioned, it really only does take one good shot.

well yeah, thats the thing.

i can hit anything to 1000 yards (maybe a bit farther) with that .375 mag with one shot.... well, something static... if it was moving, it might take one more :P

Brady bill was Federal, state laws take priority.

And yeah, ammo is going to get even more expensive.

Fortunately, my M1A, AR-15, SKS, AK, and TEC-9 take mil-spec ammo, so i can still buy the NATO equivalent (7.62x51, 5.56x45, 7.62x39, 9x19) bulk for cheap.

EDIT: Oh! i forgot, i have an M1A1 aka M1 carbine also, but i loned it to my brother, its a couple hundred miles away, so no pic :(

thats a sweet little gun, but the 7.62x33 ammo is hard to find :P

State law, to a degree, makes us into little more than a loose confederation. I understand the benefits, but certain laws should be nationwide, IMO. If I cross some invisible, imaginary line, everything changes, and somehow, I'm supposed to know every difference?

Get a Barrett M82A3! If they weren't around $12,000 for a new one, I'd buy it. Eat that, invading army!
