For a part of the Transformers Universe the movie didn't do much for me. As an action movie filled with battle, bloodshed, massive explostions and a hot girl. It's a worth while film to see.

One of my biggest complaints about the original movie is the humans. They were annoying, irrational and fucking stupid to the extreme. Seriously, did anyone give a shit about what's-his-name trying to get into Obligatory Hot Girl's pants?

Put simply, every time there was a giant robot on screen, the movie was great fun.
Every time those robots went away, the movie sucked to the extreme.

Well hot girls are nice, and action is nice. I do like to be able to SEE the action, though.

Hey, I've nothing against hot girls either. I think I'll pass on watching the stereotypical attempts of some idiot kid to get into her pants, however. Just show me some freaking giant robots blowing siht up.

Even better, kick him out of the movie, and just have her wear something see through!

well, it's a pretty d**n good solution.
In the beginning the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move.

I do agree that the first movie was a bit chaotic at times. And, there were several pointless characters (like Sam's friend).

But, what I liked about it was that the military guys behaved professionally.

I'm definitely looking forward to the sequel. :)

They did (I honestly don't remember)? Of course the movie committed the unforgivable sin of confusing a HEAT round with a sabot round.

You'd think they could, I don't know, hire some military consultants? :?

With a budget like that, it's not like they couldn't afford to.

other than that, I think the guys that played the military seemed to do pretty well with the role.

I remember reading that there is a military consultant this time. I'm trying to find the article now.

In the meantime, here's something I found on wikipedia, stating there's more of a balance this time between the Humans and the robots:
Orci described the film's theme as "being away from home", with the Autobots contemplating living on Earth as they cannot restore Cybertron, while Sam goes to college. He wanted the focus between the robots and humans "much more evenly balanced", "the stakes [to] be higher", and more focused on the science fiction elements. Orci added he wanted to "modulate" the humor more, and felt he managed the more "outrageous" jokes by balancing it with a more serious plot approach to the Transformers' mythology.
