Or to look at it from a different perspective, imagine that you aren't observing the box from outside, but rather that you are the cat.

Then you're either a living cat or a dead cat. Ooh, first-person perspective!

I think that's exactly what the "Schrodinger's Cat" paradox is meant to point out. :poke:

Welcome to the board. Nice hat.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

And he appears, now we know he is alive and not dead.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

The whole point of the thought experiment is that it actually isn't just a lack of knowledge. You'd expect it to be, because that's how the macro world works, but on a quantum level something really IS in both states at the same time. The SC is meant to show that the quantum world works really strangely and differently to what we expect.

Aye, it's one of those bizzare things that shouldn't make sense, but does.

Anyway, welcome. :)

Well, I've been observed, and I appear to be interactive... or have I been observed? I suppose that all that's really been observed are my effects in the form of my posts, so one can infer my existence and, I suppose, my life from them, but I haven't been observed directly by anyone on the board. Huh... am I alive?

Yep, that's... Say, how's the weather been for y'all lately? It's been a gorgeous weekend here, though this abrupt change after the storm of last weekend might have led to my current cold.

I... guess. *Shrugs* I guess I'll always be a macro kind of a guy. The cat can either be alive or dead, but not both. Unless there's a gateway to a parallel dimension in there. ;)
