Re: RP characters
Phantom you should check out some of the other RP's we have going on to see what we already do around here.
Have you ever done any roll playing before? Even if you havent its not very hard, for most of the people here this is there first go at it.
We've only ever had one real problem and that wont happen again...

What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: RP characters
I would love to do that. AS far as Rome Total Wars I suggested that Be awesome if we each controlled a nationDeepcrush wrote:I think we should wipe it and start something a little more free moving. We have plenty of character based RPs. Maybe we should start a ship based one. People can pick a faction and command a ship of some kind. Then they could move about fighting each other or NPC ships. That would be fun.
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Re: RP characters
As far as a ship/faction-based idea, I love it. With PC's fighting PC's, though, we'd definitely need some sort of mechanical gaming system to decide things, though.
Phantom - Teaos is right. We only had one issue with one hell of a Mary Sue - a player who tried to have his character be able to do anything, be anything, pre-empt everyone else - but he's gone and we've had a lot of fun since.

Re: RP characters
So...no universe yet? Then I vote Star Trek. Also, I call dibs on the master swordsman type character.

Re: RP characters
I think they want something different from trek since we already have two set in different time zones.
We also had a third set in the trek universe... but that one didnt work out to well. Its in the archive if you wanna see.

Re: RP characters
I really like the idea of a total war setting. That's what I tried to do before the SW one :p but not enough people were interested lol.

Only swordsmen I can recall from 'Trek were Sulu on drugs and Worf. Maybe Jadzia, but I think she was only good with a Bat'leth because she was a man when she learned to use one.
Star Wars would be a better fit for that sort of character, so join the poorly-written-dialogue side!
SW: 1
ST: 1
I'm also voting in favor of the "we all have our own ship, and PvP will be decided by ship stats and online dice" setting.

Re: RP characters
As to the single player parts. You would pick when your ship goes where and why. Factions will have bonuses assigned to them. Imperial ships may be weaker but would be repaired quicker and can afford greater losses. Rebel ships tend to be better off but are more costly to repair. I'd have to work up some system for space combat. Shouldn't be to hard. I know there's a SWs fleet battle system but I may just make something a bit more simple.
Also, Everyone will have a sort of value. Based in meters. Missions or kills against your enemies will allow everyone to grow. Better and larger ships or fighters or even escort ships.

Re: RP characters
I think the universe is really secondary to the game system.
PR - yeah, I'm with Tsu. What kind of master swordsman is there in 'Trek - and what exactly would that accomplish in ship-to-ship fighting?

Re: RP characters
If we go that route, then what fantasy setting? Lord of the Rings? Wheel of Time? The Dark Tower?Monroe wrote:Mark me down with a fantasy setting.Tsukiyumi wrote:Phantom Renegade wrote:...Also, I call dibs on the master swordsman type character.

Besides, SW is fantasy/sci-fi with emphasis on the fantasy.
