Thank Christ Irish hasn't changed much in the last few hundred years; I may just avoid getting killed!
Find some local warlord and convince him to give me shelter and a comfy position in the tribe with what knowledge I have. Maybe I can help invent stuff like crossbows a bit earlier.

I'd probably hike up north a few miles t ofind some shale formations in which to hunker down for the winter; my current location in the summer would be even better in 1300 than it is now - no summer renters; no bennie; and all the shellfish, weakfish, and stripers you could eat, along with fairly plentiful venison, squirrel, and rabbit. I might even relent and invite CPH for a bit.

I've gotten the impression that the easiest method, if possible, is to use a pair of glasses.Captain Picard's Hair wrote:Right-o. I don't suppose we would have our nice, cozy heated homes anymore. I'd be just fine with the outdoor survival bit; my big problem would be the fact that in 1300, the Comanche had yet to split off from the Shoshone way over in Colorado. I'm not even sure what tribe occupied this area at that time.

Well if we all appeared in the same spot I'd try to invent toilet paper and start the fad of women shaving their bodies.

lucky you...I live in Crow territory, meaning that unless I move fast and don't encounter any I'll be dead within days.Tsukiyumi wrote:I'd be just fine with the outdoor survival bit; my big problem would be the fact that in 1300, the Comanche had yet to split off from the Shoshone way over in Colorado. though with my proximity, I might just hike on up to the Great Lakes, meet up with Striker and Kendall.

Well it would only take me about forty days to get there from where I am now. I suppose if we were really lucky we might bump into each othere around there. That's a lot of area to look for people I don't know by sight. Though I imagine being non-Native would make you stick out a bit.Lt. Staplic wrote:

Just look for the guy cursing in English as he runs from a war party.

No doubt. Frag man, could we at least get thrown a bone and be given a firearm and a couple hundred rounds and some food. I mean us folk in NA are pretty much fucked here, I don't even speak the language of the local Nation. At least the poor sods in Europe have a smidgen of a chance of communicating.Tsukiyumi wrote:Just look for the guy cursing in English as he runs from a war party.

I just looked it up; I'd be in Caddo territory in 1300, which would be just fine. They were peaceful farmers (who'd probably be impressed with my knowledge of irrigation techniques).
Though, a gun would sure come in handy when hostile tribes tried to raid.

Re: DITL displacement through time
I can't remember which tribe is here, IIRC there's actually several. But even discounting them, this is a bad area. Humid as hell in the summer, down to -40 in the winter, swamps everywhere, all kinds of bears.Tsukiyumi wrote:I just looked it up; I'd be in Caddo territory in 1300, which would be just fine. Yeah, some of our coastal salt marshed would be a little difficult to navigate, but all in all not bad territory at all. Plus, AFAIK, the Leni Lenape 'round here were pretty accomodating - mostly peaceful fishers/clammers and traders.
