Re: Game mechanics, dice rolls, and other crap
If you are killing an unarmed civilian child, here's two tips:
#1 - He better be a hertical unarmed civilian child.
#2 - Assuming #1 is correct, and you're in my retinue, you'd BETTER not miss.

Wouldn't that affect the place of the thread in a battle situation. If we're in a gun fight we'll be making one line posts.Tsukiyumi wrote:Monroe wrote:If I'm killing say an unarmed civilian child with an autogun would it be assumed that its an automatic hit? And who rolls dice you or I?
Mikey would roll; he's the GM.
And.. does the child have to be heretical.. what kind of legal authority do we have?
How many Minbari does it take to screw in a lightbulb?
None. They always surrender right before they finish the job and never tell you why.

Also remember how many shots are involved. Meltaguns are slow firing. They take a good while to recharge, several seconds in fact. Autoguns fire at VERY high rates, they are future machine guns. Plasma guns fire a bit faster then meltas but still they aren't rapid fire weapons. More like revolvers.

I think what'll end up happening is that the actual dice system will be used for group firefights; during which we can post individual actions in here and I'll write them up as a narrative. On the other hand, there wouldn't need to be any dice roll if Tsu's character were stalking someone in an alley and took them out with his needle pistol.Monroe wrote:Wouldn't that affect the place of the thread in a battle situation. You serve one of the Holy Ordos of the Emperor's Inquisition. We are above legal authority. The Inquisition answers only to the High Lords of Terra.Monroe wrote:And.. does the child have to be heretical.. what kind of legal authority do we have?
YOU, however, must justify your actions to be in the interest of the Inquisition. Besides, a trail of carcasses isn't the most subtle way to conduct an investigation.
Try visiting the Lexicanum and follow some links through a couple of pages, or just hit the random page button. You can find all sorts of interesting stuff about tech, weapons, the workings of the Imperium of Man and its organizations, etc.

Aye, I think most of the results are going to be worked out just through common sense. If you have your gun to the head of a restrained prisoner, you're not going to miss. If you're shooting at a fleeing vehicle from a second-floor balcony, you're going to have trouble hitting.

If your ten feet above a vehicle and can't hit it then there's a problem. But I agree with Rochey that it comes down to common sense. My guy is the spray and pray. Though throughout the years his skills have improved. He'll still have no worries about put twenty or thirty rounds into someone.

Re: Game mechanics, dice rolls, and other crap
I really don't want people to get bogged down in this. A mechanical random system will only be used for non-critical situations, and then only to add to the narrative. Dice rolling is not going to be a huge part.
