Sci-Tech of the Extreme Future!
This thread is for ideas for new wepons systems for the UFP or any of the other factions.
My first idea, as seen in my Star Trek Universe Thread, is a new torpedo:
The Teslic Torpedo:
Teslic Torpedoes are modified quantom torpedoes. The use a magneton/antimagneton pre-detonator to create a strong EM distortion near the blast zone. Depending on proximity to the ship/stregnth of the sheilds this EM distortion can wreak havok on the shield emmitters and the ships EPS grid. The Teslic Torpedo was developed by Starfleet R&D and has yet to leak to any other major power.

Re: Wepons Systems of the Extreme Future!
would you look at that, just read up another one:
Tunnelling Torpedo
affiliation: Cardassian Union
The tunnelling torpedo uses a Heisenburg-Plank ampliphier to "borrow" energy from the torpedoes surroundings and tunnel through the shields of a ship and possebly even the hull. The torpedo then uses a 29.4 Isoton matter/antimatter reaction to cause massive damage to the bare hull/ ship interior.
The downside of the torpedo is that the H-P ampliphier only works in aquiring enough energy about 2% of the time when the shields are at full stregnth. Usually as the shield stregnth goes down, the probability of the H-P ampliphier working increases unpredictably.
I thought the possable power would be something the CU would go after and the unreliability of the Heisenburg-Plank ampliphier would also model the typical condition of CU tech, as well as representing the probability of this occuring in quantom mechanics, (though slightly more successful)

it's a partical that holds a magnetic force. Lok on the particles page.Mikey wrote:Anti-magneton?

I haven't formally studied particle physics for over a decade, but I thought anti-particles only existed for particles of matter - rather than force-carrying particles or quanta.Lt. Staplic wrote:it's a partical that holds a magnetic force. Lok on the particles page.Mikey wrote:Anti-magneton?

there's the anti-graviton according to Trek, and graviton's are massless.Mikey wrote:I haven't formally studied particle physics for over a decade, but I thought anti-particles only existed for particles of matter - rather than force-carrying particles or quanta.
sorry, i didn't know how to do that, I navigated to the particles page then just coppied the url in. I figured it'd be different than the home page's.Mikey wrote:BTW - you posted a link to the main page. Hmm. I didn't recall that. Well then, I guess if you can have an anti-particle for gravitic force, you can have one for magnetic force. Silly me, trying to apply actual science.Lt. Staplic wrote:there's the anti-graviton according to Trek, and graviton's are massless.

yes, i'd like it to fit with actual science too, if i find a way i'll edit till then we're going on Trek physics.

As for future weapons... how futuristic are we talking?

Re: Wepons Systems of the Extreme Future!
Well here's one.
We know they have "charge reversal devices" that can turn matter into antimatter. So, imagine a beam weapon based on that principle. You fire it at the enemy, and it converts every other atom in their ship into antimatter.

Given that it's traveling through a void, just what is it going to take energy from? The tunnelling torpedo uses a Heisenburg-Plank ampliphier to "borrow" energy from the torpedoes surroundings and tunnel through the shields of a ship and possebly even the hull.

Re: Wepons Systems of the Extreme Future!
well there are quantom particles in the void it can get energy from, as well as the ship it's launched from and possably even the enemy ship.
It's based on the "tunnelling electron" idea of quantom physics, where 99.999% of the time you shoot a bullet at a steel wall it will just bounce back, but .001%(actually less than this) the bullet will actually "tunnel" or go right through the wall. For this the thing "borrows" energy from everything, both things surrounding it and things that aren't.

Re: Wepons Systems of the Extreme Future!
well as long as you can explain the idea behind it as futuristic as you want, I'm doing things from the perspective of TNG's not to distant future.Abraxas wrote:So anything goes?Lt. Staplic wrote:...till then we're going on Trek physics.

so like 4-5 centuries from now, hence the extreme future.

Hopefully it would have a VERY long range - you don't want to be too close to your target when that happens.
But "very other atom?" How do you make it that selective?
