Re: Morning rant on ST 11
Now I think of it the TOS remastered has whetted my appetite for that as well. Seeing the original done with decent effects shots... just imagine what could be!

Cut from the amasing SFX sceen of the Enterprise in orbit to Kirk and crew beaming down to a cheesy planetscape.

Dang kids! In my day, it wasn't 'Trek without a matte glass painting for a background!

I'll look at it this way, if it requires special effects to be a good movie, then it isn't a good movie.
If the effects are pretty, but the writing is crap, I'll hate it.

Has anybody tried to search online for the script?

I doubt you'd meet with much success. Like I said earlier, Abrams is pretty great at keeping a lid on stuff like that.Mark wrote:Has anybody tried to search online for the script?

You know the way CGI is going, 10 or 20 years from now you could probably keep the original actors and replace the entire background of every shot in TOS. New sets. New planets. New EVERYTHING.Mark wrote:Cut from the amasing SFX sceen of the Enterprise in orbit to Kirk and crew beaming down to a cheesy planetscape.

Re: Morning rant on ST 11
That would make me ecstatic. I would love to watch TOS writing with modern fx for the entire ep.

Yeah.......that's true. Just imagine if they could set up a CGI bridge set. No more flashie thingies on sheet metal panals.....................oh no!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We'll see a futuristic bridge as it should be!!!!!!!!!!1

Ugh, that's terrible. And is Sulu being played by the guy from Harold and Kumar?

Yes. Never seen it ( ), but that doesn't mean the guy can't act in a serious role. He's super-excited about it; they all are, and I think they'll all act their asses off, especially Zachary Quinto.Cpl Kendall wrote:Ugh, that's terrible. And is Sulu being played by the guy from Harold and Kumar?

Re: Morning rant on ST 11
No it doesn't. It does mean that I cast his acting abilities in doubt though, not many comedy actors make good serious actors. I have no idea who Zachary Quinto is or what he's done before so that's not much help.Tsukiyumi wrote:
