Hm, interesting. I'll be interested in seeing just what type of ship the Kelvin is. Is it a science ship, or a battleship?

I'm guessing a light cruiser.

A big light cruiser.

It seems to have a lot of phasers, at least on the dorsal saucer, but I see no torpedo tubes. Light cruiser seems to fit.

PTs didn't seem to be considered any great shakes in TOS - all the heavy hitting, such as the battles of "The Ultimate Computer", seemed to be done with phasers. If the new film's going to be consistent with that then it would seem to be a promising sign.

Good point.

I'm optimistic about the whole thing; we'll have to just see how it turns out.

My optimism has gone somewhat downhill since I've seen the images of the new Enterprise. Hopefully the film will be good enough to make up for that.

I'm going to go into it pretending I've never seen Star Trek before.

I'm going to try and view it two ways:
1) As a seperate movie on its own, as if I've never even heard of Trek until now
2) As part of the overall series, seeing how it fits into Trek canon as a whole.

Agreed. Which means we can get two views for the price of one.

Hey, GK.............how many times would you need to see the movie before working on a Kelvin entry for the site?

I imagine he'll wait until he gets it on DVD.

I'll likely see the movie at least once a week for a month or so. A couple of times should be enough :) Getting pics is the hard part.

You can always use those 3d renders as placeholders until the DVD comes out. :)

I wonder what Nero's ship is going to rate in overall strength on the DITL scale?
