Because you elect businessmen into power.

Yep.

Re: The Random Thread
I hate kickbacks. I hate stupid people.
I feel bad for all of those autoworkers.
Meanwhile, CEO's of financial companies get million dollar bonuses for running their business into the ground.

Yes, while these CEO's are getting bonuses for failing I can't get a loan for school.
I think I need to break something... something inexpensive.

Or, do what I sometimes do, and punch your fridge. If you do it right, you'll only break your knuckles, and they heal up for free.

Well, sleep solved most everything other than the finance problem.
I don't know about our fridge, I think its like 20 years old or something.

Re: The Random Thread
Actually, there is a real, common-sense reason for attempting to aid the financial institutions first - they are the basis of fixing the rest of the economy. If the financial institutions get better, then there is more buying power available to the consumers at alrge, which of course leads to better prospects for the manufacturing, sales, and service industries, which then leads to better prospects for ancillary industries, vendors, housing, etc., etc.
Conversely, if that buying power remains unavailable, any help to any other industry is nothing more than a VERY temporary band-aid.

Re: The Random Thread
Yes I know that. The problem is that the money is not going to aid the financial companies but to give bonuses to the CEO's.

Re: The Random Thread
That's been a great deal of sensationalist reporting. There is a kernel of truth, in the AIG executive retreats, etc., but many of the execs of the business in question have been willing to make huge allowances.
Now, I'm not saying they don't deserve any blame, because they obviously do. All I'm saying is that one shouldn't condemn the bailout, or all the recipients thereof, based on the actions of a few. If you want to condemn them, do it for their lending practices.
