Help save my son!

Okay, it isn't MY son. It's my namesake's son.

I'm just seeking any suggestions.

At this point in the novel I'm currently working on, the characters are trying to save the main dragon character's (Varthikes) unhatched son, whose egg was cracked prematurely in a recent fight. The suggestion is put forth to put the pre-hatchling in an incubator (similar to the ones used for premature Human babies, but modified) set to simulate the egg's environment.

The pre-hatchling is to be put in stasis while the incubator is prepared. Then, he'll be transferred from the egg to the modified incubator (was that what that was in ENT's "Similitude" in which Phlox grew the Trip-clone?)

Again, just looking for any helpful suggestions.

Can the hatchling survive outside the egg? A premature birth may be an option.
Reconstructing the eggs shell from different materials, or other egg shells may help to preserve the egg as well, perhaps.
Constroctung a poreuse, yet isolating structure around the egg by using all sorts of materials at hand.
What technology level are we looking at? It may help to expand our options.
'Welding' the egg cracks to let it seal again, if possible without damaging the pre-hatchling.
If possible dragons can survive this, can the egg be put in cryostasis?

Perhaps wrapping it in some sort of water-proof material quickly might help. That would prevent vital fluids leaking out.

The hatchling is relatively fully formed (all of his vital organs are formed), but still too fragile to survive outside. Especially on his own. Perhaps with medical intervention.

What technology level are we looking at? It may help to expand our options.

The technology is about two hundred years ahead of ours today.

If possible dragons can survive this, can the egg be put in cryostasis?

That's what the doctors were going to do while they prepare an environment where the young dragon can finish developing.

How about coating the cracks with some kind of rare poxy? Could be a whole sub plot to obtain said stuff.
