Funny thing is all the die hard TOS fans hated it.
I think they felt like the show was somehow taking a potshot at their beloved Spock. I don't think so at all, but...

Maybe it was but that hardly matters. The way Vulcans have always been portrayed has been uterly stupid.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

I agree with you - I'm just trying to figure out why their portrayal in Enterprise has irked some die-hard TOS-ers.

I'm not sure, either. I always felt an underlying arrogance in most Vulcans. T'pau, Stonn, T'pring, Solok, Tuvok...

Heck, Spock was pretty danged haughty too on occasion.

Picard's biggest failing: hipocrisy. He makes all sorts of speeched about the Prime Directive, yet he violates it regularly.

Pfft, I aplaude him for that. Some of the things the Prime Directive says are completely stupid and disgracefull to anyone with a sense of morals.

I agree with Rochey. At least, unlike Kirk, Picard's decisions to skirt the Prime Directive were based on a clear system of ethics - rather than arbitrary decisions of convenience.

Picard > all other captains.
Close:
Kirk > Picard > all others

Nah. Kirk is of course cooler, but Picard is better in all other aspects.

On the other hand, coolness is the most important factor in how good a Starfleet Captain is.

I hate to admit it, but Kirk is the only one who had a song written about him; by the great third-wave band, the Scofflaws.

I'll forgive your ignorance as your too young to have been alive when Kirk was the one and only Captain. Personally I think its Kirk-Picard-Sisko-Janeway-Archer.

I'd switch Archer and Janeway, myself. Kirk can also outfight Picard and has the devil's luck about him.

Plus he taught the Klingons the phrase 'surrender with honor'. ;)
