Re: Caption Competition

It's been said before but yes speed does count. If there are duplicates then the person who gets there first is the one that gets the credit. The only exception to that is if the second person gets a truly funny twist on the joke or phrases it in a much more humorous way. Basically we read them in the order they where posted, short listing those we think are worth a second look. The the other of us removed the ones he doesn't like or which are not as good as the others. We then bounce ideas off each other for the winner, the rest of the remaining short list are the special mentions. Last week we had about 400 entries to go through and it took me an hour.

As for the pictures, yes we do aim to the them with funny looks on their faces some of the time, others we get because there's a good grouping of people or they're all staring at some strange item. Those types of picture generally make for variation in the captions. It's also worth noting that this is a star trek site and a clever reference to some event in trek history (applied in a funny way) will often make us think that it's clever, and will often get at least a special mention.

What VOY Episode was the picture from about 8 competitons ago? This was the winning name/caption: "Winner : The Good Knight Fartsalot
It's nice when you finally find that special person you want to grow mold together with."

I'd like to thank Jesus, and the orphans, and that adorable litter of kittens I found, and Satan, and...

Ah, who am I kidding, I'll thank myself. And GK and IK for finding it funny. :)

Congrats, Tsu. I personally think you should have thanked me, most of all. I'll try and come up with a reason for that.

do most of you use different names on that or are there just that many, nonforum users posting?
