The parkour chase with Sebastien Foucan at the beginning of the movie was amazing, especially as a (very poor) traceur myself, who is not used to seeing such things on the big screen. In addition, the fist fights were brutal and nasty, unlike the movie style fights and one punch knock outs seen in other films.

Seeing that Bond started out as the type of guy who would beat a couple guys to death if he had to explains to me how he is the kind of guy who can walk into and destroy a Russian complex, and fight his way back out alive after, even though it was a trap. Seeing that the first woman he let get close to him be forced to turn on him explains why he is able to be with a woman then walk away, time after time, and not care a bit about it.

Wasn't that keen on the Parkour chase, though it was great watching Daniel Craig blunder after him and still managing to keep up.

And it was good to see Bond actually give a damn about the woman he got killed (well, one of the women). They used to drop like flies around Roger Moore and he couldn't give a damn. Having Alec Trevelyan chide Bond about it in Goldeneye was a nice nod to the issue.

And I'm glad they kept Judi Dench as M.

She has made M a character who is actually good for something other than introducing the mission of the year.

I could be reading it wrong, but it seems Bond is slightly intimidated by her. The first woman in forever he couldn't charm.

For sure, that and she has a nasty habit of reminding him she has no qualms about sending him to his death  It's a really cool counterpoint.

I think James has a good deal of respect for her, because she has the same ruthless streak that he does. She frequently tells him that she'd sacrifice him in a second if she could get enough gain out of it, both on missions or to home politics. Most people in her position would do the same, but not many of them would tell you it straight to your face in advance.

At the same time she does seem to care about her agents. Which I guess makes her willingness to sacrifice them if needed more cold blooded.

Gotta love her. But you won't find a "cone of silence" in HER office

I don't know much of the plot, but I thought of DITL when I saw the word :Q in the title. :D

Just WTF is up with the title, anyway? What the hell is it supposed to mean?
At least with "Die Another Day" or "Goldeneye" the titles were pretty damn clear, but this one sounds like it has B&B writing it.

You took the words out of my mouth. The first time I heard the title (I wasn't looking up at the TV at the time when the promo was being displayed) and thought I'd heard "Quantum of Solace," I thought that I had surely misheard.

Someone posed the question, which I still haven't been able to find an answer to :-

How the hell are they gonna fit the words "Quantum of Solace" into the theme tune?
"You ain't gonna get off down the trail a mile or two, and go missing your wife or something, like our last cook done, are you?"
"My wife is in hell, where I sent her. She could make good biscuits, but her behavior was terrible."
