Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Squorpion Class
Battle Cruiser
20 decks
600m x 320m x 100m
927 crew
139 officers
Type 5 Calos
3x Rapid Fire A-Class Torpedoes
2x Type 4 Burst Fire D-Class Torpedoes
High Power SIF
Primary Armor (Vital Areas): 5cm
Ablative Armor: 15cm
Warp 19 Capability
Cloak
The Squorpion Class was designed and built c. 2393 to replace the Sovereign Class in it's battle leading position as modern technology was rendering it unfit to be a true battle cruiser. The ship was designed to combat mainly Battle Ships/Battle Stations, and slower Battle Cruisers. The engineering hull was placed over the Saucer so the deflector would be able to better push away spacial matter while performing maneuvers, and to more easily seperate should the need arise during battle.

Nice designs, but you're off on the dates (E-D was launched in 2364 IIRC), and unless these ships have Transwarp, the speeds are off. Good sketches, though.

I was gonna ask about those speed ratings, too.

What's a "calo"? Where are the phasers?

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
nice catch Tsuki, i didn't know that.
As for Calos, and Speeds, forgot the footnote to see previous ship designes for that stuff.
To re-itify:
Since we can makeup our own stuff here, I took the privilige of creating a new warp scale because the TNG one sucks.
Vc^(-1) =WF^(log8760)
No Transwarp barriors/Warp 10 being infinity.
Calos are basicly a Phaser on steroids. Their passed through another particle chamber which adds energy to the Phaser without extra drain on the ships, and makes them resistant to powering Regenerative shielding.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Monfort class Light Cruiser
Length: 320m
Beam: 100m
Height: 100m
Crew:
50 officers, 320 enlisted
Weaponry:
7 x Type X phaser arrays
4 x Burst fire torpedo tubes
1 x Quantum torpedo launcher
Defenses:
High capacity shield system
High level structural integrity field
10cm ablative hull armor
Speeds:
Warp 8.8 cruising speed
Warp 9.5 maximum cruise
Warp 9.99 maximum speed
The Monfort class was developed as a light cruiser counterpart to the Sovereign class ships. The design incorporated elements from the Sovereign and arranged them in a Galaxy class formation, although the actual size of the ship was scaled down. Experiments with the prototype USS Monfort NX-85855 in early 2381 proved successful, and the class entered production shortly after.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Is it just me, or does the design of the Solar class seem needlessly complex?

You mean the double nacelle struts? I don't think it's a big deal, especially if on pair is normally capable of withstanding the material stress involved.Rochey wrote:Is it just me, or does the design of the Solar class seem needlessly complex?
As to the Monfort - I like the idea, but if it is a cruiser complement to the Sov, shouldn't it go at least as fast as the Sov?

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Thanks for the advice, Mikey. I edited the speeds to better match the Sov.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Maybe it's just the way I'm looking at it, but it seems like a lot of the features, the second set of nacelles, the lack of connection between the main body and the saucer, etc, all seem rather unnecessary.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
On the Solar Class there's only one set of nacelles.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
Then what are those nacelle-looking thingies right next to the secondary hull?

Quantum pods.
What does defeat mean to you?
Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Re: Ideas for new classes of starships
you have the saucer, then coming off the saucer would be basicly two secondary hulls. Between them is the cargo hull which is 90% cargo space and can seperate for space station movement, and outside the two secondary hulls are the nacelles.
