However, in Voyager's defense, 7of9 was the best thing ever to come of the Borg.

True. You cant argue with the catsuit.

I'm sorta surprised we never saw flashback scenes with the Borg in DS9. Early on, at least, it could have been effective.

Meh, they weren't really needed all that much.

Yeah, DS9's only connection with the Borg was Sisko really and doing anything more would have gotten tiresome quickly.

In Voyager they needed a stock bad guy that they didn't have to tell the viewer all about every time they met them. Aliens of the Week work but you generally have to spend time setting the scene as it were for the viewer and that can take time away from the story. The Borg are the only thing we know of from that area of Space that can do it so they got abused into what we seen in the end which is really only the same through the name and the general appearance. Plus the Borg were and still are popular so Borg Stories get you ratings, which in turn gets you sponsorship which gives you more episodes.

The problem was that by overusing them because "the Borg are awesome", they destroyed the very characteristic that made the Borg awesome - their aura of invincibility.

TNG by a light-year. Unstoppable, truly scary... You didn't defeat the Borg. You survived until the next encounter with them. Which might be your last...

I think VOY should of just created a new species like the Borg. Or and off shoot of the Borg that was more human.

I really dont mind the VOY Borg most of the time. But they are totally different to TNG ones.
What does defeat mean to you?

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

The problem is that the VOY Borg aren't the same as the TNG Borg. They're too different. The writers would have been better by just making them a completely different race.
