The combined Dominion/Cardassian/Breen fleet was 30,000 strong as of "When it Rains...". Since the Jem'Hadar apparently made up the bulk of the fleet, 15-20k seems a decent estimate for their numbers.

Is that just speculation or canon? Since it sure didn't look like there were 20,000+ ships protecting Cardassian Prime, or if they had that number, 600-1200 Allied Ships wouldn't have been that much of a threat.

You have an explicit quote, like we hear that the Empire had 25,000 Star Destroyers in it's fleet?

Martok: By tommorrow we'll have fifteen hundred Klingon vessels ready for deployment.
Romulan: With the Breen, the Cardassians and the Jem'Hadar you're still outnumbered twenty to one.

Good enough for you?

Not really. Unlike in Star Wars, we don't have a set number of ships or something. And don't you think of the Dominion already HAD 20,000 ships in the Alpha Quadrant, why would the 2,800 that were coming through the wormhole be so important?

:wtf: Yes we bloody do. 1500 x 20 = 30,000.

You don't think a 14% increase in their forces is important? In military terms that's huge.

Indeed, such an increase would naturaly swing the tide of war. Even if we assume that both sides were evenly matched until then, the Dominion getting 2800 more ships that it can deploy at will will be a massive advantage.

That's 2800 ships which were unaccounted for by the alliance, and which can be use to form newfleets or task groups to attack targets which were left undefended because there were previously no Dominion groups to attack them.

Yeah, that was the point I was getting at.

My point was, that number may have been hyperbole.

Or exaggerated.

Its more lack of evidence, also the final fleet we saw in What You Leave Behind... Definetely not big enough to be over 20,000+.

And of course the Dominion couldn't have suffered any losses between WIR and WYLB, and what we saw on screen was every single ship they possessed, since none of them could have been defending the other side of the planet.

Do you have evidence it wasn't hyperbole or exaggeration though? Like from a companion book or something?
