I would imagin going at higher warp burns out your coils faster so you only go fast when you have to.

Nothing it will never come. Death before defeat. I don’t bend or break. I end, if I meet a foe capable of it. Victory is in forcing the opponent to back down. I do not. There is no defeat.

Aye, that would make sense.

Yes it would. Except that they always seemed to go as fast as possible in TNG, so that wouldn't really make sense, unless that was only the case for the experimental warp drives of TOS days, then again in ENT they ALWAYS pushed the limits on that warp 5 engine. At one point past warp 5 IIRC.

I can't say I have noticed that about TNG. In fact they rarely went past Warp 9 even in an emergency.

NX-01 usually went about Warp 4.5 - 4.9. They rarely broke Warp 5, and the first time they did they all but blew the engine out.

Good thing the NX seemed to be able to travel at the Speed of Plot.

Hmm, every series had speed of plot. Every franchise had speed of plot.

I wonder if a Prometheus class could even make it from Earth to Qo'nos in four days, unless they had a plot that mandated they get there soon????

Ships got from Klingon (and Romulan) space all the way to Cardassia pretty quickly during the Dominion War...

In truth I'm not sure they ever gave us the travel time.

Not explicitly, but it is suggested by the fact that, for example, a Romulan fleet showed up at DS9 unexpectedly to combat a phantom Dominion fleet before full-scale hostilities ever broke out, not to mention the fact that the RSE and KE were able to muster fleets in Dominion space soon after the official outbreak of war.

If you buy into the fanon idea of warp highways it becomes easier to believe. Also explains the Breen attack on earth if there is one going right by us.

Given that we know nothing about where these regions are relative to each other, there's really no contradiction. My problem with ENT was putting Qo'nos four fucking light years from Earth.
