Re: The best thing that could be done for B5
His plan wasn't any different from how the show went. Though, Sinclair was supposed to remain a lead character. Right - but Sinclair's departure created the need to split the protagonist between Sinclair and Sheridan. You can see his plans being laid for Sinclair's character before they got interru...

Re: Is TAS Canon?
I agree with the viewpoints expressed above on "personal canon," except for one small niggling trifle: the word "canon," in the 'Trek-affiliated sense of the word, is defined as what Paramount says it is. We may all have our own opinions as to what is relevant to our views of th...

Re: Morning rant on ST 11
I still hate jumping through hoops to explain stupid writers. I too. This is the reason that, although I'm trying really hard to keep something of an open-mind, I'm deeply deeply concerned about the canonicity of the next film. Even things as simple as the chronologically inaccurate uniforms and di...

Is TAS Canon?
I'm surprised this question isn't always being discussed. TAS is one of the most disputed aspects of the Trek archives. What's your take? Here's mine: I consider TAS to be semi-canon. I shall define my three categories: -Apocrypha: Not canon; includes the novels, comics, fan series, etc. Anything th...

Re: Just how did Voyager come up with the extra torps?
Even if this has a perfectly canonical explanation, it strongly supports my idea that Voyager's premise was a dead hook all along - they all knew it would be just another TNG (but worse) and they only had the Delta Quadrant thing to make it sounds exciting and avoiding being in DS9's shadow. I think...

Re: Preferred Pairing of Powers
Or an alliance of all the minor powers we rarely see. The Gorn, the Tholians, the Breen, etc. Such an alliance could give one of the larger powers a run for its money. I always have thought Tholians/Gorn/Breen would be the most interesting and make the most sense in the wake of the Dominion War. Th...

Re: News on next STXI Trailer
I remember when the new Battlestar Galactica came out, how much the original series fans bitched and whined about a female Starbuck, and no continuation of the original story, and humanoid Cylons, and all that. Well I thought they were a bunch of morons who were overlooking the fact that the new sh...

Re: Morning rant on ST 11
Interesting idea. I haven't actually seen "Regeneration," so I'll have to check it out at some point Don't bother. You can spend that hour of your life in far better ways. Seriously, it sucks. Is this the main reason some fans consider Enterprise to be an alternate timeline? No. Most peop...

Re: Noncombatants in the Dominion War
I think it ended just fine, EXCEPT with Sisko joining the wormhole aliens. That was dumb. Really? I thought the ending was great and inspiring in the first half, and I was ultimately happy with the ending. I don't think it needed an epic battle. The war needed to be ended, bu t I think it was ended...

Re: The best thing that could be done for B5
Good point. And also, even though I LOVED the way JMS handled the unplanned casting changes and the "One who was, one who is, one who will be" thing from War Without End is really cool, I always sort sort of wished that Sinclair could have remained in command and eventually have had to tra...

Re: Morning rant on ST 11
Technically, Enterprise IS in an alternate timeline. I see it ths way once the Borg traveled back in time, and the E-E followed them, the timeline was polluted. Who knows what kind of effects that had on the past. After all, I'm assuming in the "REAL" timeline, Archer and crew never encou...

Re: The Motion Picture Vs. Star Trek 11
It just seems like an incredibly difficult task to replicate characters like that, and the risk of failure is so severe.

Re: Noncombatants in the Dominion War
I've heard that it was initially planned (or at the very least proposed) to have the war end half way through season 7, and have the second half of the season focus on its effects. I'm a little mixed on that. I feel like it could have been handled really well, but we also could have seen the final ...

Re: Best Intro
Did anyone watch Crusade? I never saw it but I haven't heard good things. The intro supported this. What about Legend of the Rangers, The Lost Tales, all that stuff? Was any of that any good? The universe was really cool, but I felt pretty satisfied with the end of the series. Crusade had promise, ...

Re: The best thing that could be done for B5
One thing I think B5 did fall down on was that while its main characters were excellent, a lot of the minor ones were truly awful. It was quite jarring when it happened, but sometimes there'd be a one off baddie of the week or whatever who would be utterly cliche, spouting horrible dialogue, horrib...
