Re: What would the "Warp Formula" look like if...

Ok, Threshold is the episode that establishes, quite ridiculously, the "Warp 10 Barrier" as an impenetrable limit, except that, Tom Paris figures out how to beat it. Because of this, Graham theorized that speeds above warp 10 were possible (due to All Good Things hitting Warp 13); just tha...

What would the "Warp Formula" look like if...

Graham, If one is to ignore my own personal least favorite episode, Threshold, how do you think it would that change the Warp Formula for determining just how fast one is going for a given warp factor? Personally, I don't see any change to it, but then, I didn't come up with it, so I may just be wro...

That isn't a typo - it's a variation between British and US English spelling. Huh... didn't know that. I don't own a "British English" dictionary, so when I thought that the word looked funny, and looked it up in my dictionary, and it wasn't there under that spelling, but was under anothe...

True. I raerly get involved in these technobabble debates but Oh well, here we go. The Plates would likely be constructed of some easily chargable material. They charge it with...uh something...and polarize the energy flow. The polarity absorbs the energy of weapons fire or something... I dunno. Th...

Another spelling error located:

I just realized, after looking through the library for several years, that every single entry has a spelling mistake in the Maneuverability. In every entry it is spelled Manoeuvrability. The correct spelling is maneuverability. This is of course located in the Strength Indicies, under combat maneuve...

I was trying to fix my PC in time to cover Seafort on the "Sydney isn't a starship" misrepresentation. I've mentioned my opinion on this topic already, but one thing I've noticed here prompts me to write this: Gandalf - what's onscreen is what's onscreen. It doesn't matter if you (or I, o...

You claim that the Sydney is merely a transport, not a Starship. (don't use Warship, as the Federation doesn't build warships, with the exception of the Defiant class, and they don't even acknowledge that it's a warship.) I have said that the Sydney is a Starfleet Starship. I have provided my evide...

Is it only for Commercial vessels?
No, it's for any vessel that sails the high seas. American Flagged Vessels may have some protection from this, but I wouldn't want to push my luck, hence, I stay home... :(

As stated in a previous message, I do not believe that this is the case in the Federation, as they don't even blink when a civilian is armed with a hand phaser or disruptor. Have we actualy seen any citizens with hand held weapons? The only incident that comes to my memory, is a story O'Brien told ...

Somethings I didn't see adressed, so I thought I'd jump in. Even if a Freighter is civilian owned and operated, which the classes in the list aren't, it would be up to the owners and operators if they wanted weapons or not. I just can't see how they would turn weapons down unless they were pacifist...

And I don't know which freighter's you're talking about, because the one's that I've referenced SPECIFICALLY, The Shelley and The Sydney, were both very clearly Starfleet, therefor MILITARY (sorta). As I have said before, the only one of the three completly unarmed classes that we haven't seen an o...

Follow the thread Cap'n... ME: Also, Even the Medical personel in the US Military, who enter combat, corpsmen and the like, are just as fully armed as their combat-monkey bretheren. Now, this doesn't have a dirrect bearing on Starfleet, but the reasons behind it remain the same. Mikey: Not really. M...

The reasoning behind who's armed and who isn't depends on the purpose of the ships involved. The shuttles are warships - small warships, but warships nonetheless. Merchant ships aren't. It's the difference between a ridgid raider and a cross-channel ferry. The former is military and therefore has c...

Also, Even the Medical personel in the US Military, who enter combat, corpsmen and the like, are just as fully armed as their combat-monkey bretheren. Not really. Most field medical personnel will be armed as officers - pistol rahter than longarm, no grenades, and probably no k-bar. As far as the s...

Well, the Sydney at least wasn't Civilian, she was Starfleet. I base this deduction upon the Hull Registry beginning with NCC, the same as every other non-experimental registry, and bearing a "USS" prefix to the ship's name. The Shelley class was also Starfleet, for the same reasons. Also,...
